About DrainCleanUSA and how the referral works

DrainCleanUSA is a free call connection service for people dealing with clogged drains and sewer problems. We don't clean drains ourselves. We route your call to an independent professional who does.

What is DrainCleanUSA?

DrainCleanUSA is a referral service for drain cleaning. When you call our number, your call is connected to an independent drain cleaning business that serves your area. That business, not DrainCleanUSA, gives you a quote, schedules the visit, does the work and stands behind it.

We built the service around one frustration most people have had: a drain is backing up, it's getting late, and searching for someone to call means sorting through ads, directories and companies that may not even cover your town. One number that works across 30 states, and connects you with a local provider who handles drain and sewer work, is a simpler starting point.

What do we do, and what don't we do?

Being clear about this matters, because the difference affects who you deal with for every part of the job.

  • We do route your call to an independent provider who serves your area, and publish free guides that explain drain problems in plain language.
  • We don't employ technicians, own equipment, visit homes, set prices, issue invoices or offer warranties.
  • We don't verify or guarantee any provider's licensing, insurance, workmanship or availability.

How are we paid?

The service is free to callers. Drain cleaning providers in our network may pay us when a call is connected to them. That payment doesn't change the price a provider quotes you, and you're never under any obligation to book.

Referral disclosureDrainCleanUSA is not a plumbing or drain cleaning contractor. Calls are routed to third-party service providers, who are solely responsible for their quotes, work, licensing and warranties. We may receive compensation from providers for referrals.

What happens when you call?

You'll be asked for your location and a short description of the problem. Your call is then connected to a provider who covers your area and handles that kind of job. From there you're speaking directly with the provider about timing and pricing. If what they offer doesn't suit you, you're free to end the call.

The details you give, such as your ZIP code and whether water is backing up, help route the call correctly. Our Privacy Policy explains what is collected and shared, including that calls may be recorded for quality purposes.

How should you vet the provider you're connected with?

Treat the call the way you'd treat hiring any contractor. A few direct questions on the phone protect you and take less than a minute.

  1. Licensing: ask whether they hold the license your state or city requires for drain and sewer work. Requirements differ by location, and some areas license drain cleaning separately from plumbing.
  2. Insurance: ask whether they carry general liability coverage in case something is damaged during the job.
  3. Pricing: ask how they charge, whether that's a flat rate per drain or a trip fee plus time, and whether nights or weekends cost more.
  4. Written estimates: for anything beyond clearing the clog, such as excavation or pipe lining, ask for the recommendation and price in writing.
  5. Evidence: if a camera inspection is part of the job, ask to see the footage of anything that's recommended for repair.

Why do we publish drain guides?

People get better results when they understand the problem. Knowing whether your symptoms point to a single fixture or the main sewer line tells you whether to stop using water. Knowing what hydro jetting or a camera inspection involves helps you judge a recommendation instead of simply accepting it.

Our guides explain causes, warning signs, safe checks you can try first and what a professional visit looks like. State and city pages add what's typical locally, because drain problems in an older northern city with deep frost and cast-iron pipe aren't the same as those in a newer Sun Belt suburb on expansive clay. Start with the drain cleaning overview or pick your state from the list in the footer.

What we won't publish

We don't publish reviews, star ratings, awards or claims about any provider's experience, because we can't verify them for every independent business in every town. Price information on this site is general and describes what affects cost, not what a specific provider will charge. If a page states a local fact, such as a region's climate or common pipe materials, it's there because it helps explain your drain, and we aim to keep it accurate.
